Dr. Nix was graduated from the University of Nebraska with a degree in chemistry and received his DDS in 1979 from the University of Nebraska College of Dentistry. After finishing a one-year general practice residency at the Dallas VA Medical Center, Dr. Nix then entered a four-year oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at Parkland Memorial Hospital and Affiliates. The first year of his program was dedicated to a residency in anesthesiology.
Dr. Nix completed his training in 1984. At that time, he began private practice in oral and maxillofacial surgery in the Plano, Allen and McKinney corridor, and has been faithfully serving this area ever since. Dr. Nix is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons as well as the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. He has served as an officer in the Fourth District Dental Society, is a past president of the North Texas Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and is a member of numerous professional societies and organizations.
Dr. Nix has been married to his wife, Cathy, since 1984. They have lived in the area for over 30 years and are very active in their church and community. They have five boys, 2 grandsons and 1 granddaughter.
Dr. Nix has been involved with many medical mission trips (including Mexico, Russia, Panama, Guatemala, India and Uganda) where he cares for those needing dental care.
